Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal

1-cup organic rolled oats

2 1/4- cups water

1/2 cup chopped apple

A pinch of salt

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1- Tbsp. maple syrup, coconut sugar or other sweetener

½- tsp. vanilla

 

TOPPINGS: per serving (makes 3 servings)

1- Tbsp. seeds (flax, sesame, hemp, sunflower, pumpkin)

1- Tbsp. nuts (slivered almonds, pecans, cashews, walnuts)

¼- cup fruit for topping- banana, blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, currents, raisins (optional)

1 - 2- tsp. sweetener- coconut sugar, raw honey, stevia, brown rice syrup, molasses (optional)

¼- cup organic almond milk, rice milk, coconut milk, soy milk or other milk

 

Place oats, water, apple, salt, cinnamon, sweetener and vanilla, into a small saucepan.

Bring to a boil then reduce to simmer for 4 - 8 minutes. 

Add more water if you like it thinner.

Top with seeds, nuts, fruit, sweetener and almond milk.
